The ranks in Goju-Karate |
|
| Just
like other styles of martial arts, USAGF uses a belt system to show rank.
The ranks are counted backwards from 9 to 1, and are called
"kyu", which is the Japanese word for "boy." It is
important to remember that rank does not mean one student is better than
another, all it means is that one student has learned more than another.
The ranking system is as follows : |
|
| 9th kyu - white belt (beginner) |
|
| 8th kyu - white belt with 1 green stripe | ![]() |
| 7th kyu - white belt with 2 green stripes | ![]() |
| 6th kyu - white belt with 3 green stripes (advancd white) | ![]() |
| 5th kyu - green belt | ![]() |
| 4th kyu - purple belt | ![]() |
| 3rd kyu - brown belt with 3 black stripes | ![]() |
| 2nd kyu - brown belt with 2 black stripes | ![]() |
| 1st kyu - brown belt with 1 black stripe | ![]() |
| When the last black stripe is removed, the student begins testing for black belt. | ![]() |
